COVID-19 has worsened the Ocean plastic pollution problem. Eight million metric tons of plastic waste enter the oceans every year. On top of that, it’s predicted that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans.
Businesses, non-profits, and individuals globally are realizing the severity of the situation, and taking various measures to protect the planet.
But for those measures to really make an impact, everyone needs to get involved!
WHAT CAN YOU DO? ✨
1. Stop buying plastic water bottles, buy glass bottle instead.
2. Bring your own to-go cup.
3. Quit smoking. Did you know that cigarette filters are made from plastic?
4. Say “no” to plastic wraps. Refuse plastic wraps whenever you can and choose items that are not wrapped in plastic.
5. Donate money. Non-profits Plastic Pollution Coalition and Plastic Oceans International could use your funds to help reduce plastics pollution.
6. Raise awareness like Plastic Oceans UK. Sharing an eye-opening stat or an inspiring story could help make more people aware and inspire them to take action!
7. Take part in clean-ups. There are many organized ocean clean-ups taking place.
By changing our habits and consumptions we can make a difference! ♻️
“Industrial pollution and the discarding of plastic waste must be tackled for the sake of all life in the ocean.” – David Attenborough
