I have decided to launch a series of nutrition FAQs
Once a week, I'll be answering a frequently asked question as a nutrition coach.
Staying hydrated is essential for your health and well-being. There are lots of ways to hydrate more and enjoy the benefits, even if you're not a fan of the beverage. Here are some creative ways to help you stay hydrated when you dislike water.
Infuse your water:
If you're not keen on bland water, why not infuse it with flavours you enjoy? Add slices of your favourite fruit, such as citrus fruit, berries, and cucumber. You can even add herbs like mint or basil. These natural flavours will make your water more appealing and encourage you to drink more of it.
Herbal teas:
Herbal teas can be an excellent alternative (hot or cold). They are available in a wide variety of flavours. Choose the flavours you like, whether fruity, floral, or spicy.
Water-rich foods:
Many fruits and vegetables have a high-water content. Foods such as watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, and strawberries can contribute to your daily hydration needs. Incorporating these foods into your diet can be a healthy way to increase your fluid intake.
Set yourself hydration targets:
Challenge yourself to drink a certain amount of fluid throughout the day. This could be a combination of water, herbal tea, infused water or other hydration solutions. Setting a goal can help you stay accountable.
Create a hydration routine:
Incorporate hydration into your daily routine. For example, drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up, before meals and before bed. Over time, this can become a habit.
Keep a reusable water bottle with you:
Take a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. Choose a bottle that's easy to carry and fits easily into your bag. By having water to hand, you'll be more likely to drink it throughout the day, making it easier to reach your hydration goals. Plus, using a reusable bottle is an environmentally friendly choice that reduces the need for single-use plastic bottles.
